So this past weekend was the Passport Tour, and all the members of the Dundee Hills Wine Association participated. It was a success, and we were busy both days. The Passport Tour works like this: people buy the passport for $15, then go to all the wineries and other members to get stamped and try their wines at deeply discounted prices and special deals. For instance, at Vista Hills, we offered 7 wines for only $5, when it's usually $10 for 5 wines. Two of those wines were not usually available, so it was a special treat. We also offered 20% off all wine purchases, so it was more of an incentive for people to buy our wines.
It was interesting, however, because on Saturday we had more groups coming in strictly to taste, and not so much to purchase bottles or cases, and we were slammed all day. On Sunday, it was the exact opposite. We were still busy, but people were more interested in purchasing quantities of wine. We sold several cases and got more people to join our membership as well.
It was a good weekend overall, and I learned a lot more about our wines and how to effectively cater to each customer's needs.
