I seem to be on the phone, emailing, or on Google Docs about 24/7. The NICE is busy planning our first conference, as well as planning a training week at the beginning of June to prepare for our summer programs. Our summer programs are a chance to really ramp up the neighborhood programs, we send out applications to nation-wide networks of youth environmental organizers, and they apply to join our programs for the summer. We're in the middle of preparing for these as well as figuring out what our first conference is going to be like. We're having a gathering this weekend in Portland, where we're going to spend some solid time planning the conference. It's super exciting! We spend so much time on conference calls and emails that we tend to forget how much fun - and how much more we get done - when we all come together and work for a weekend. It will be refreshing after so many calls. I'll take pictures and fill ya'll in on how that turns out next week!
